This happens when you haven’t addressed your root cause(s) of your acne.

These 3 questions can give us loads of clues as to what’s really going on with your skin:
1️⃣ How's your digestion? Do you have a healthy, daily bowel movement (formed, not urgent, not painful, full elimination)? Do you struggle with any digestive symptoms like bloating, gas, heartburn, nausea, diarrhea, constipation?
2️⃣ What are your periods like? Does your period come every 21-35 days in regular intervals? Are your periods heavy, clotty, or painful? Do you experience any symptoms around ovulation like pelvic pain, anxiety/mood symptoms, breast pain?
3️⃣ Are your breakouts cyclical or constant? Do your breakouts tend to follow a pattern with a phase of your menstrual cycle? If so, you likely have a hormonal component to your acne. If your acne is all month long, here are some possible contributors: poor metabolic health, gut infections, inflammation, iron overload, stress, skin irritation
Acne goes FAR beyond just an external problem. It’s a symptom of something much deeper.
The top internal causes of acne I see in practice are:

Which is why asking yourself these questions can help guide you to understanding your root cause.
Once you have an idea of your possible triggers, the next step is to ask a deeper “why?” (we never stop asking why 🙃):
❓”Why is my gut so symptomatic?”
❓”Why are my hormones out of whack?”
👉 Maybe you have a bacterial or parasitic infection, yeast overgrowth, low good bacteria or high bad bacteria, or low digestive capacity w/ low enzyme & stomach acid function?
👉 Hormones are never the root cause. They’re always responding to something else: under-eating, blood sugar dysregulation, stress, sluggish liver/detox, to name a few
